Kirby, One fine lunch hour, was contentedly looking forward to eating her muffin.  It was a bran muffin, her favorite, and she was very happy that she hadn't eaten it yet because then she wouldn't be able to eat it now.
She got up to throw away some trash before settling down to enjoy the mufinny goodness of the muffin in question when to her absolute horror, she found her poor muffin had been stabbed with a pencil.

The scene likely resembled this recreation:

Though part of her could see the sheer hilarity of the pencil lodged perfectly in the center of her muffin, and wanted to laugh and appreciate the good funny-ness of the moment, another part of her was terribly upset and very angry.

These two opposite forces were battling within her for superiority so she was unable to produce any reaction at all for a moment.  Instead she stood and looked around blankly while she decided what reaction to have.

Finally, knowing full well that of the group of friends sitting innocently around the muffin, the only possible culprit was none other than Lindsay , Kirby looked at her accusingly.

Lindsay, always good at looking innocent, then declared in a very straightforward manner "It was an accident.".
